New Term!

Today I had my first seminar this semester. It's about the domestic policies of the U.S.. I have to do a paper on the Supreme Court and its structure and jurisdiction.
So please, my American friends, tell me something about it :-) Thanks a lot!

New Job!

Yeeehaaa... I've got a job! Finally. I'm in the fan-office of the T-Moblie cycling Team.
So every thursday and friday I answer letters like "I want photos of your riders!" and "Je voudrais des photos de votre cyclistes!" or "Ich will ein Autogramm von Jan Ullrich!". That's often done by printing a standard letter and putting the photos in envelopes.
Not very challenging, but it's good money for easy work. And my colleagues are nice.

Olympia

Yesterday I watched this snowboard thing, where four women were boarding down a hill at the same time (yes, I don't know much about snowboard disciplines, I think it's called snowboard cross). The US-girl acutally had the gold but then she decided at the last jump to do trick and tried to grap her board with one hand. Mistake. She fell and the girl from Switzerland, who was far behind her before that, could catch her on the line.
Sorry to say that, but there are some stupid people out there...

(incl. the German "Nordic Combined" guys...)

New Year, new try...

I'm bad... I've neglected my duty to write regularly (at least something) in my blog. Shame on me. I'll try better this year!
New Year's Eve was great, we had a huge party at Alex' flat. Lot's of my "old" friends came, which was very cool. My girls rock! :-) But actually: All guests were nice.
But the thing was that we started a bit early. This happend because most of the guests came from far away and arrived about 5 pm. So somehow we started drinking around 6, and after one hour, half of the punch we made was gone. And it was a very strong one.
Fortunately we realized that this isn't too good... because our plan was to go to the Rhine round 11 to have a good look at all the fireworks. But when we tried to get everybody out of the flat (around 25 people) and go by tram some people got lost. What I didn't notice, because at some point and some drinks you somehow can't notice everything.
So we (now 20 people) arrived at a bridge from which you could see the Cathedral... Very cool. We had a great view: The Rhine with plenty of boats, the Cathedral, cool fireworks... I think we stayed there around one hour and then Alex and I tried to get everyone back to the tram to get home. But some of my girls suddenly saw other guys from my old school so they stopped and talked to them. The bad thing was that the other half of the group already reached the tram. So again, some people got lost. Unfortunately they were the ones who didn't know Cologne very well... actually they had no idea where they had to go. What at this point I again didn't notice. Back at the flat two of my "old" girls came to me and told me what happend. So just two out of eight friends made it to the tram in time. The rest was somewhere out, not knowing where they are. And of course you couldn't phone anybody because the net broke down... as usual on New Year's Eve. Suddenly one of my "new Bonn" friends came through the door, totaly fed up, just grabbed some things and told us that my other Bonn friend had stumbled and fallen onto her face (they were the ones which got lost at first when we strated) and that one piece of one of her teeth broke off and that her face was swelling so they had to go to hospital and celebrated in the accident and emergency department. What a shit...
At this time one of my "old" friends somehow managed to call me so I could tell her which station they had to go to. But the problem was that - I still don't know why - there were no trams running between 2 and 4 am. Which was really bad, because now my totally lost friends had to find Alex' flat by just asking people. I think you can
imagine how informative people at this point of day on NYE are. But somehow they arrived... but also with one of them hurt (she also fell, but on her knee, which was covered in blood and so were her new trousers).
So all in all it was a kind of eventful night but actually very cool. Just have a look at the pics :-)

Jenni on Ice

So, finally some news of Jenni.
Today I went on ice with some friends. Unfortunately the last time I went ice-skating I was about 12 years old. So that's eight long years. One of my friends said it's like biking: You can't unlearn it. I didn't believe him but he was right. Against all apprehensions I didn't breake some of my bones. In fact I didn't even fall down, even though some stupid annoying kids tried very hard. But I won. Haha!
So here's a wonderfull picture of me looking a bit dumb.

Back and Brown

Vacation is always good... Especially when you escape from rainy and cold places to a sunny and warm island like Crete.
But 14 days just being at the beach isn't very exciting so Alex and I decided to rent a scooter. Even though this is not very cheap. 70€ for five days. But it was worth it because we got so see a bit of Crete's nature and landscape. Which is really kind of cool, look at the pics. We visited the famous Knossos, Matala and the maybe not so famous Rethymnon. And because we are students in an european contry we didn't have to pay anything for sightseeing. Did I mention that I love the EU?
Anyway the hotel was really good (so much good food... so tasty cheese!!) and so was the beach. And I'm really sunburnt.
